Greetings from Pasadena, CA!
We finished our voluntary 2 weeks quarantine, but we really thank God for allowing us to spend more time with our children, Irene, Nathan, Diane. Nathan and Diane came and visited us due to cancellation of their rotations due to Covid19 outbreak. Although we have cancelled all planed trips to Orland, FL and Bahamas, we are refreshed and are restoring our time with the Lord and family. Let’s continue to pray for one another and all nations to overcome the Corona Virus.
OM Thailand 10th Anniversary and the Field Leadership handover Ceremony:
Jan. 18, 2020 Since we have started OM Thailand in 2006, our dream was raising Thai young leadership and installing Thai nationals as field leadership. The dream came to reality when we celebrated OM TH’s 10th year anniversary and appointed Lynchee Buakham as the 1st Thai field leader in OM. Thank God for the provision of extra finances so we could print 500 calendars and support the senior missionary retreat prior to the celebration and all the expenses of food and logistics for the celebration. An extra blessing was hosting Alex Smith, the legend OMF missionary (83 years old) who recruited us in 1992. God was pleased when Lynchee was introduced and many international leaders joined us in prayer for her.

New season in OM ministry
The annual OM Int’l Leaders Meeting was held at Chiangmai (Feb. 13 -18). Due to Covid19, 100 people of 400 cancelled, but the meeting was a productive discussion around mobilizing and discipling the unreached. As Woody stepped down from the field leadership, he was appointed as Area Finance Development Director of East Asia. The tile is long, but literally means that he is a fund raiser for EA Area projects. Some leaders asked Woody with concern about how many CEOs he knows. Woody replied, “zero.” Then they asked one more question- why do you want to take the difficult job of raising funds for 24 countries? Woody felt discouraged and reconsidered the role. The Lord spoke to him the next day at ILM early in the morning. He read Ephesians 3 and 4. God confirmed the calling with 3:16 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” It is not about money, it is in His power through His spirit. The Lord reminded Woody to work not by sight, nor by might, but by His spirit. And He added the word in 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” This verse relates to our original calling verse in Mark 11:29 “ Learn from me that I am gentle and humble in Spirit.” The Lord spoke loudly to Woody “be patient.” Woody received the confirmation and shared with leaders next day that it is not his job to raise funds, but God will connect and prepare for the ministry for Woody. Please, pray for his next step: starting financial development training before he gets back to Thailand in 2021.
Furlough in March 2020 to February 2021
It is our first furlough after 16 years in the field. Now, we are in a two bedroom apartment in Providence Mission Home, Pasadena, CA. It is a blessing to live with Irene for a year. We hope to reconnect with our supporting churches and supporters beside spending quality time with family. If the Lord is willing, we would like to mobilize churches for global missions.
Please, continue to pray for us. We would love to connect with you all. Irene is working not too far away from the PMH. Nathan and Diane are waiting to hear their residency results by the end of March. May the Lord strengthen you all during the crisis of Covid19.
